Arpana Caur is a distinguished Indian painter exhibited across the globe since 1974. Apart from Delhi, Mumbai, Kolkata, Bangalore and Chennai, her solos have been held in galleries at London, Glasgow, Berlin, Amsterdam, Singapore, Munich and New York, and at Stockholm and Copenhagen National Museum.Her works are in permanent display in museums of Modern Art at Delhi, Mumbai, Chandigarh, Dusseldorf, Singapore, Bradford, Stockholm and Hiroshima, Victoria and Albert Museum, London, and Los Angeles, San Francisco and Boston. She has been extensively written about, filmed, invited to various events world over and awarded including a gold medal in 6th International Triennele 1986 in Delhi. In 1995, she was commissioned by Hiroshima Museum of Modern Art to execute a large work in commemoration of the 50th anniversary of the Holocaust. She has also done nearly ten large non-commercial murals in public spaces at Bangalore, Hamburg, Nepal and Delhi. Today, her paintings support several projects for the unprivileged at the Academy of Fine Arts and Literature, a leprosy home at Ghaziabad, ration projects for poor old widows and a small support network of young artists and craftsmen.
